As I journeyed my way into Orlando, Florida to attend my 20 year HS Class Reunion, I found myself caught in a media tail spin of a trial that not only rattled my parental spirit but made me wonder out loud, America how did we get here?!?
Getting dressed to venture out and enjoy some Florida Sunshine, I thought I would tune in to some global news while watching Good Morning America. But noooo, the Orlando local news stations had other plans for my morning news outlet. Those media whores shut down GMA with 30 minutes left to make sure I caught every glimpse of the Casey Anthony Trial. Yes, I’m talking pre-trial, present-trial and post trial updates. It now made sense to me why my Orlando Facebook Family gave me constant FB updates about this case. What in the wild world of legal media?!?
For those of you who are living in a cave and have no clue who Casey Anthony is and why she’s the most televised murder suspect since Orenthal James Simpson, please take a break to catch up by clicking here…Casey Anthony Trial
I think what disturbed me the most about watching that mess is that the lawyers sounded like they were arguing over the last toy in the sandbox, the judge looked like a parent who had given up watching the argument and the witness at the time, Cindy Anthony (Casey’s mother), sounded like she was making up a lie to her parents as to why she came home late after breaking curfew.
There didn’t seem to be any concrete direction or evidence about who would firmly come out on top and win this trial. The prosecution seems to have scratched upon a lot of circumstantial evidence that the defense was picking apart worse than a teenager that had found a new pimple on their face. The more I tried to ignore this mess, the more I found myself thrust into the armpit of the legal mumbo jumbo that will probably be known as the most watched case in legal history. I mean, I did see people physically fighting outside the courthouse before the trial trying to get a front row seat. Where they do that at?!?!
At the end of the day, Ms. Caylee Anthony is no longer with us and her murderer needs to face their due justice. Now will it be her mother, her grandfather or her grandmother that pays for this crime? Interestingly enough, I honestly don’t think that even with all the media hype given to this case, America will ever know what happened to Caylee. All we know is that her death trial has preoccupied too much of our lives with nothing to show for it!
