While most hurricane Irene victims were seeking a safe shelter, a 25-year-old Long Island storm shelter volunteer was seeking women he could sexually prey on!
Apparently, Anthony Henry of Roosevelt, had a hidden agenda when he volunteered to help the Red Cross at Nassau Community College in East Garden City during the storm over this past weekend. According to a 42-year-old woman staying at the shelter, he allegedly touched her inappropriately. Shortly after the incident, the woman sought out security who then notified police who eventually arrested Henry.
*bows head for a 30 second moment of silence*
At some point, there has to be a limit of where folks will engage in illegal activity. I’m sure this poor woman was already distraught having to move to a shelter in an effort to protect herself and possibly her family. On top of that, she has to fight off an attempted rape. Lord, please bless this horrific mess!
After reading all of the VMA social network buzz about Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby bump news, I finally sat down this morning and watched Beyonce’s VMA performance! First of all, I’d like to say CONGRATULATIONS to one of the greatest entertainment couples of our generation. They genuinely look happy and in love and I wish them the complete best.
With that being said, I must share some things that caught my attention during Beyonce’s Love on Top Performance…
What I saw:
Beyonce constantly getting a sneak peek at Jay-Z as she performed no matter where she was on stage. She definitely wanted to make sure her boo was in approval of her performance.
Jay-Z grinning from ear to ear like he had just heard the news for the first time himself! You’d think he was unsure if his gun was loaded with blanks or live rounds the way he was smiling like he had just discovered the underground railroad!
Kanye West was equally excited and showed Jay-Z love like a home boy who had just got the news his high school girlfriend was NOT pregnant. Kanye and Jay-Z showed so much enthusiasm that I thought I heard Maury tell Kanye he was not the father of Amber Rose’s offspring. But hey, that’s just me!
What I heard:
Beyonce singing like her million dollar estate depended on that performance. I am truly a Beyonce fan and I think anyone with a love for music can’t deny her talents. But something about that performance gave me more chills than normal.
Beyonce’s new bambino asking where all of the noise was coming from. I know that poor baby had to be upset that it was getting disturbed from its late night nap!
Again, congratulations to them and I wish them the best. But for the rest of America, now that Beyonce has confirmed her pregnancy, can we go back to finding a cure for world hunger, cancer, the budget deficit and AIDS?
In case you missed it, here’s the live performance again:
Once again Eddie Long and his accusers have hit the news! Right when you think this story is over, it continues to spiral out of control. Jamal Parris and Spencer LeGrande, two of the five accusers, decided to take a chance in giving up their confidential monetary settlement and go on record speaking exclusively to an Atlanta news reporter about the pain and hurt they continue to feel after their ordeal. They even shared that they’re writing a book that will outline in detail what went on between them and Long. Jamal has a child on the way and Spencer has a young son and they have both vowed to be better fathers than they had in their lives.
I’m not here to give you my view on who is right or who is wrong, my sole purpose is to discuss something that will ring in my ears forever after listening to accuser, Jamal Parris’ interview: “Tell me you didn’t do it…!”
Putting aside some opinions that the men may be after more limelight or that they are just trying to milk their 20-seconds of fame and turn it into a higher monetary gain, I honestly feel that these gentlemen can never truly move on with their lives until they get a sincere apology from Eddie Long. Often times, when people hurt you ,whether it’s knowingly or not, the person on the other end of the hurt just want to hear you acknowledge your wrongdoing and a sincere apology. No matter if you are a millionaire or someone who is collecting an unemployment check, it feels good to hear someone say they are sorry. Although a little hush money has never hurt anyone, an apology is a requirement and can never be substituted with money.
A lot of hurt and pain that a person carries around is a result of not getting their just due from the person who hurt them. Whether it is a scorned lover or a child who is constantly abused by a parent, the pain does not go away over time without properly being addressed. A part of addressing that is having the person who created the hurt apologize and vow to never do the hurt again. Adults should never assume that just because they have bought a child a shiny new toy after they have mentally demolished them or physically tormented them that the child’s pain will go away. Their lack of empathy will always be the only memory that child will ever have of them. Unfortunately, this memory can potentially create a lifetime of hurt and pain that will cause the child to be dysfunctional forever. The most damaging part is that the child will become an unhappy adult and have no idea why they can never find their happy place.
Without derailing this subject any further, I think the biggest takeaway from Jamal and Spencer’s interview is that people need to acknowledge their faults and simply apologize to the person they hurt with the ultimate goal being to never demonstrate that hurt again. Shiny new toys eventually fade away but a lifetime of emotional baggage can last forever.
My prayers go out to both the accusers and the Long family. They all have some serious recovery and counseling ahead of them. I pray that they take advantage of it.
Coach John Thompson III of the Georgetown Men’s Basketball team was quoted as saying, “We’re outta here,” and pointed toward the tunnel behind the Hoyas bench leading underneath the stands. I’m sure those are some of of the last few words his players remember him saying as they were caught in a real life world war scuffle with their opposing teammates, the Chinese Bayi Rockets.
Thursday night, the Georgetown Hoyas Men’s Basketball Team had more to defend than their opposing team’s basket. Caught in an aggressive exhibition game with the Bayi Rockets, the game apparently got so overheated that the benches for both sides emptied twice. One of the parents for the Georgetown Hoyas player reportedly tried to warn the Chinese police to calm the issue before it got out of hand. I’m not sure if the Chinese police don’t get paid enough to get caught up in violent uproars during a basketball exhibition game, but they quietly ignored the parents suggestion.
Seeing the damage that could potentially be done during the scuffle, Coach Thompson smartly pulled his team out of the dog fight basketball game with a little over 9 minutes left and the score tied at 64. Thank goodness for common sense! I guess great coaching habits aren’t the only thing Jim Thompson III has picked up from his former coach and father, John Thompson, Jr.
Apparently, the LA Laker is spending his off-season laying hands on young men in the house of the Lord. And no, I’m not talking in a spiritual nor an Eddie Longstroke type of way! While Kobe was enjoying a morning of worship at St. Therese of Carmel Church, a young man allegedly attempted to take his picture and Kobe allegedly grabbed the man’s phone out of his hand and allegedly sprained the young man’s wrist. The funniest part of this article is that when Kobe checked the man’s phone for the alleged photos he didn’t find any.
I’m a firm believer that everyone deserves privacy and there are some places that should be off-limits when it comes to taking celebrity photos or asking for their autograph, but something in my inner-Kobe hateful spirit says this was another tantrum by Mr. Bryant that could have been controlled.
62-year-old mother, Althea Ricketts was not happy when she found out her son lied about having a Facebook account! Wait, stop right there, she’s 62-years-old and has a school age child! Dang, she must got that good-good….oops, I digressed!
Anywho, the young boy apparently posted on his Facebook account that he had broke a glass on purpose and planned on keeping a piece later to play with it. The mother was made aware of the child’s posting and account by a family friend. Now, that’s the kind of friends I need in my life!
After the Facebook profile was discovered, Ms. Althea did what any other 62-year-old mother would have done, and got to whooping that buttox with some cable cords. Well, maybe not any other 62-year-old mother cause they SHOULD be enjoying only their grandkids, but again that’s digression! The authorities were called and Ms. Althea was arrested shortly after her son ran to a neighbor’s house after the beating.
Now, Dee knows it’s 2011 and there are other disciplinarian methods while rearing a child. But, ummm Ms. Althea is 62-years-old what else do you expect her to do? The look on her face in her mug shot says she’s not the parenting type to put him in timeout.
I say let Ms. Althea deal with him now before the taxpayers and authorities have to deal with him later because he’s in and out of the justice system!
Take the poll and let me know what you think about this one!
TLC’s show, My Strang Addiction, ended its season with a woman who recently suffered the lost of her husband. Apparently, she is mourning so much that she has become addicted to eating his ashes to remain close to him. Now, I can only imagine how she feels after losing her husband especially since she had only been with him a little over 2 years, but eating his ashes….WOW! I’m sure his sudden death did not make her able to deal with his loss any easier but to take her fingers and scoop up a finger full of ashes and rub them in her mouth….WOW! I’m truly speechless.
I definitely know one thing, TLC truly is The Learning Channel! They are always teaching me how DIFFERENT some people really are in this world!
My prayers go out to this young lady hoping she overcomes her addiction and can move on from her tragic loss. Godspeed!
But before I go….
Let me introduce y’all to Ms. Emily Gaspar who had a lot to say on the topic. This young lady had me cracking up and the comments on the YouTube video are even more classic material! I think I heard Emily compare this addiction to cannibalism. Ms. Emily may have a point there!
