Just when McDonald’s announced the McMysteryMeat McRib is back, a University Professor and mother of four, Dr. Erin Carr-Jordan, gets banned from several McDonald’s in Arizona’s East Valley.
Apparently Dr. Carr-Jordan has campaigned against dirty restaurant playgrounds and has shouted from her laboratory how nasty the McDonald’s PlayPlaces are. After being notified of her ban, she continues to work with a group of volunteers to scrape up the evidence she needs and have her concerns addressed.
Per AZfamily.com, a McDonald’s spokesman gave the following statement:
“We take feedback about our restaurants extremely seriously. Over the past several months we have engaged in open and honest dialogue with Dr. Carr-Jordan in an effort to address her concerns and review her findings.
“We are still committed to doing this. It appears that recent actions by Dr. Carr-Jordan have become disruptive to the employees and customers within our franchisee’s restaurants, which prompted the letter from his attorney.
“We remain committed to working with an internal team on ensuring that our PlayPlaces are clean and safe for all customers.”
Hey, I aint mad at momma professor for taking a stand against a popular restaurant franchise in the name of children safety. I applaud her efforts and truly hope that this will start a clean-up revolution across the world for McDonald’s PlayPlaces. I just think she needs to work on her timing a bit. I mean the McRib only shows up once every 5 years or so and missing out on that taste mystery meat has to be heartbreaking!

Is this the face of a wide receiver that is worthy of another NFL start after 16 years in the league and two knee surgeries? What say you, NFL Fans?
Being that I’m not a fan of Terrell Owens solely due to all of the drama I’ve witnessed from him throughout his NFL career, I really tried to ignore his televised workout/press conference this week. The 6-Time Probowler took to the small screen and put his best knee forward in an effort to try and get picked up by another NFL team. Yes, another moment where the reality tv star was showing America why he is important.
Although, I’m not an advocate for anyone being unemployed, I really don’t know if I’d like to see Terrell Owens suited up again and on the field. It really saddens me when a professional athlete does not recognize when their time has come to end their career on a positive note (See Minnesota’s Quarterback, Donovan McNabb). Not to mention, I’ve seen him cry publicly more than a crack-head confessing to giving up their child for a hit in a confessional booth.
Terrell has gained hall of fame numbers being on teams from the San Francisco 49ers to the Cincinnati Bengals. He actually made it to the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles by beating all odds and coming back from a regular season ankle/fibula injury. Unfortunately, Owens’ Divolicious ways, controversial behavior and negative contract negotiations with the Eagles organization after their Super Bowl appearance are probably more remembered than his 122 reception yards in their loss. I really would like to see Mr. Owens take a seat next to Tiki Barber quick fast and in a hurry before he embarrasses himself even further.
I’m all about giving folks second or maybe even third chances, but at this stage of the game, Terrell has officially crapped out in my book. I personally wouldn’t want the receiver suited up in my all-time favorite NFL Team’s Jersey, the Tampa BUCS! I feel his bi-polar tendencies would taint the young team and create an attitude that will only destroy the dynamics that their head coach, Raheem Morris, has built over the last few years.
My suggestion to T.O., continue his bromance with Chad-OchoCinco-Johnson and focus on his reality TV career. He can make a decent salary on television without becoming known as the Wide Receiver that Could NOT in the National Football League.

An Iowa couple who have been married since they were knee-high to a grasshopper died an hour a part while holding hands. Who says true love stories don’t exist anymore?
Mr. Gordon Yeager, 94, and Mrs. Norma Yeager, 90 shared their last breath together side-by-side in hospital beds. The couple who had been married for 72 years died last week in an Iowa hospital. The husband stopped breathing initially; however, he was still registering a heartbeat as his wife continued to breathe life through him via the touch of her hand. Their family referenced their life as a “real-life love story.” And I must say, I agree!
Although death was their ultimate fate, anyone who catches a glimpse of this headline can only smile thinking about the amount of love, respect and happiness that was shared among this couple even as they took their last breath! One could only hope that they can receive a small portion of happiness this couple shared in their lifetime!
My prayers go out to the family but somehow I believe that they are just as happy as the Yeager’s who spent their last breath in marital bliss!
“It’s been a tough time to be a Minnesota sports fan. The Twins lost 99 games this season. The Vikings are off to a disappointing 0-4 start, while the University of Minnesota football team is 1-4. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves won just 17 games a year ago.”
Well Minnesota Fans, disappointment no longer lives in your state thanks to your WNBA 2011 Champions, the Minnesota Lynx! They came out and destroyed the Atlanta Dream Team completing a near perfect postseason. The ladies of the Minnesota Lynx showed the ATL how sweet dreams were truly made beating them in a 3-0 series sweep with the final score 73-67.
Apparently, the Minnesota Lynx organization made early plans to head to the WNBA postseason with their acquisition of Georgia native, Maya Moore. They recognized a great force of Girl Power in Moore who contributed 15 points to her team’s win over the Atlanta Dream! Hailing from Lawrenceville, GA , Maya has to feel a guilty pleasure by winning her first WNBA title over her hometown team in her rookie season!
The combined efforts of Moore and her teammates definitely gave the Minnesota Fans a reason to hold their heads high while preparing to welcome their first pro-title parade in 20 years! Congratulations ladies, you make Diva Dee PROUD!
Yesterday, the “You Betcha Queen”, Sarah Palin, felt it was her duty to announce to the world that she will not be seeking a 2012 presidential bid. But was the former 2008 vice-president GOP candidate singing to an empty audience?
As reported on Yahoo!.com:
“Numerous polls showed Palin holding her own in national surveys, with wide name recognition across the political and media world. But most potential supporters didn’t actually want her to run in 2012. Seventy-two percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents surveyed by McClatchy-Marist last month said they wouldn’t welcome a Palin presidential run. Just 24 percent said they would.”
I told y’all last year how Sarah Palin is the master of media-whoring. And just when I think her media-pimp game has slowed down she takes it to another level. Have a whole theater of seats Sarah and sit your butt down! Don’t nobody care if you waste your money and run in the 2012 presidential race. The only state you would probably win is Alaska and that is even up for debate!
Somebody call Katie Couric to interview Mrs. Palin again. Katie seems to find a way to make her talk in circles and then go on mute in lightning-fast speed!
Borrowing the words of granny, sometimes I wish they wouldn’t have given some of y’all money!
Although most will remember October 2011 as the time the world lost one of its greatest innovators, Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs, I wanted to take a moment and bring attention to an iconic American Civil Rights Leader that is still celebrating 90-years of life today, Rev Joseph E. Lowery.
Rev Lowery has seen so much and has been influential in changing the world views of racism. From marching during the civil rights movement with Dr. Martin Luther King to saying the benediction for the inauguration of the first African-American President, the man has seen and done it all! However, I think the most enjoyable moment I will remember Rev Lowery for is his October 5th 2011 morning commute interview on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.
Tom Joyner introduced Rev Lowery with a lot of excitement and energy while the American Civil Rights Leader responded with the same amount of energy! After providing some details about his televised birthday celebration scheduled to air October 9, 2011, the Tom Joyner Morning Show Crew asked him about where he’d be celebrating the after-party. Rev Lowery’s response: “I don’t know about the after-party…every day, every minute is an after party any day the Lord gives me 90 years.”
As if that wasn’t enough to tickle the listeners’ funny bone, the spunky 90-year-old gave his best response of the day when Tom asked him about joining them on their Party with a Purpose cruise held annually in March. “When is the cruise?” asked Rev Lowery. “In March,” replied the morning crew.
Seems as if I almost ran off the road when I heard the historical icon blurt out, “March? I got time to get my underwear and stuff together!”
Hearing the “dean of the civil rights movement” have so much spunk and energy at 90-years-young made me want to power walk for at least 45 minutes. I love that he still knows how to enjoy and appreciate life and has not allowed his age to slow him down one bit. I also appreciate the wisdom and example he continuously shares with this country no matter how far we have progressed.
As a true educator of life, Rev Joseph E. Lowery left the listeners’ of that October 5th 2011 morning commute interview with the greatest quote I’ve heard to date: “Let’s turn to each other not on each other!”
