As we enjoy another year of figuring out if that special someone really loves us by the value of the gift they give, we must also remember that love should be a year round event. So much so that we should love ourselves always and show love to our special ones daily. Remember John 3:16? That’s the type of love that we were blessed with and will never be something that can be measured by one day. God provides His unconditional love daily for His children, we should do the same as well!
But with that being said, if you have a Valentine you can spend this specially appointed love day with, enjoy! If you don’t have someone special who’s worthy of celebrating with, enjoy your special time with friends or family but please avoid a pity-party. Don’t let a commercialized holiday determine your self-value. You were given the gift of life and that is always a reason to celebrate!
The good news is God not only blessed us with His son to show His unconditional love, He blessed us with a great musical icon who gave us great Love Music–Mrs. Whitney Houston.
In memory of her life, please enjoy some of her great tunes as you enjoy this special Valentine’s Day! Remember, the greatest love of all is inside of you!
As we celebrate the official day set aside to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his accomplishments, I wanted to share a special experience I had recently.
We all have heard the “I Have the Dream Speech” at some point in our life and may have even seen it on video or live if we’re mature enough. But the revelation you get of your country as an adult while sharing that speech with your child, priceless.
Hearing that speech always moves me. But nothing touched my spirit more than revisiting the Lincoln Memorial recently where Dr. King gave his August 28, 1963 speech. Although I visited the Lincoln Memorial as a child, I never really had an appreciation for that historical moment like I did as an adult sharing it with my teenage son. Standing in the same spot Dr. King did to give his speech while looking out at the Reflecting Pool imagining thousands of people staring back at me, absolutely breathtaking.
Between the Lincoln Memorial and the newly opened Washington, DC National Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, I felt a flood of emotions that almost brought me to tears. We have come so far as a country; but Lord knows, we still have a long way to go.
I ask that each of you share this important historical lesson with your children and make sure they understand that this day isn’t just another reason to sleep in. And if you’re given the opportunity, please visit these great sites in D.C.
Also, learn and know your history folks. Some of our history is worth repeating, especially to our children.

To You and Your family:
I wish you all a safe and wonderful thanksgiving! Please remember that you don’t have to come from humble beginnings to have a humble spirit. Humility is a quality that all humans should embrace. A human’s true character is how he treats someone that can’t do anything for him!
